Last week my laptop crashed and I lost everything, it’s a sad and stressful experience. I feel silly about the sense of loss. The good thing is I have physical copies of my magazines and can scan whatever I might need again, but scanning and editing takes hours, so it’s unfortunate that the work was lost. I am still figuring out what might be still around and what I will need to ready again. So this week I thought I would post illustrations from King’s Man, mostly because I haven’t featured the rad illustrations these magazines offer yet. There’s not too many in the mag but I love the 60’s art. I’d like to feature more of the art from the mags, I hope it’s interesting to you; please comment if you like them and want more. Enjoy!
Pagan
Blonde for a Bed 1960
This pictorial can be found in King’s Man #9 1960. “Sharon Lee is twenty three and every inch a woman” The article states her measurements, tells readers to take their word for it and explains that they’ll measure her for you, its a strange write up. They go on to describe her as an object and that “the boudoir is the obvious place for her” Already this magazine seems more sexist than any I have read up to now. Usually they’re light hearted jabs about wanting to bang some cutie, but this very short write up rubs me the wrong way. But a literary critic I am not. I am more of a pictures critic and these are very artistic, esp for a girlie mag. Sharon is adorable with her blonde waves and cute pout. This pictorial features my fave pic from this magazine, I will put it first, its almost angelic, she’s simply beautiful, I’m sure you’ll agree. Enjoy!
King’s Man 1960
New magazine day! I just scanned/edited King’s Man #9 from 1960 and the pictures are wonderful 60’s smut. I’m only going to post three pics tonight, as the cover girl/pin up doesn’t have her own write up and I can’t find her name anywhere. I hope I will be able to find her name and update this post in the future. So tonight is just a quickie. I haven’t joined a centerfold in a while, its a new skill for me. I like to think it came out ok. Hope you’re looking forward to the rest of the mag! Enjoy!
Back Cover
Adam and Six Eves
This pictorial is a series of photos taken behind the scenes of the “nudie” film- Adam and Six Eves. I suppose I shouldn’t do a write up of a film I haven’t seen, but this is more of a paraphrasing of a review of a movie I haven’t seen. They say that the same basic movie-making patterns apply as larger productions, but “with a speeded-up shooting schedule and a low budget , making it most imperative that each scene be just right on the first try” I think this is a lil over simplified statement on filmmaking. What makes these movies “worse” is not having the budget for more takes, or more time for rehearsal/film/time to get scenes perfect, therefore they have to accept mediocre performances, based on the the budgeted shooting schedule. Honestly I love the “nudies” or sexploitation films of the 1960’s, its definitely my fave genre. I couldn’t find a copy of this particular film or even a tailer to accompany this post, just a one-sheet poster that I will include at the end of the fabulous photos of the actresses. These movies are all about the girls, something that I like, they should be the center of attention; what good are boobs if they aren’t being complimented or stared at? Enjoy!

Witch Without a Stitch in Pagan
Julie Barton just can’t find anything to wear! According to her pictorial write up she works the graveyard shift at a doctor’s telephone service, whatever that means. Apparently she only has Monday evenings free for dates, in case any readers are looking to take her out I suppose. Julie likes to lounge around her apartment in the nude! Wow! But on the rare occasion she is able to go out on the town she enjoys ‘real party dresses’ or formal wear. She is a true Georgia peach, but you couldn’t tell it from the pictures! Enjoy!

Candy Penrose!!!
It’s been way too long! Waaaaay too long! But it’s gonna be worth the wait because Candy Penrose is the best ever! She’s the reason I bought the Pagan magazine, as she’s on the cover. I have the biggest straight girl crush on her, she is my smut hero. She portrays so much attitude in her pictorial, I love it. The write up says she loves the beach and also loves to go rock hunting in the mountains. Apparently she likes to find stones and polish them to make into jewelry. A lot of the time the write ups seem so fake, like ‘she is so into motorcycles’ just stories to make guys think the girl in the pictures is so great, but the rock hunting hobby is so interesting and different I really think it’s real. I hope she’s hiking in her high heels, nylons and eyeliner gathering rocks, cuz you always gotta look cute. Enjoy!

Femme Flashbulb Frolic 1965
A Chicago press/advertising industry party is the subject of this pictorial. The ladies featured are models, show biz girls, and ‘entertainers’ looking for their big break, and trying to impress the men who can take them places. The write up explains that parties like this have resulted in many ladies successful modeling careers because they are able to catch the eye of commercial photographers and ‘ad men.’ The pictures depict what looks like a pretty rad party form 1965, some girls wearing pasties, some not, but all running around having a great time with older men who are fully clothed. Although, like the article says, there are a few male models looking for their big break as well. Looks like a pretty swinging party! My fave is the chick smoking with her pasties on like its not a big deal, love! Enjoy!

New Mag- Pagan!
I have a few new magazines, but I wanted to start with my fave so far Pagan (1965) from Parliament, who I’m quickly learning are like the best. This magazine is so adorably trashy! My fave girl, Candy Penrose, is the cover girl. My copy is Vol 2 No 4, I’m quite excited there’s other issues of Pagan, every page is great. For this post I am going to feature June Brighton and her motorcycle, and leave Candy for another day, just so we all have something to look forward to. June is from Seattle and loves to ride motorcycles apparently. She loves going fast! The less than a paragraph write up explains she loves hot rods because of her brothers and became a fan of motorcycles because she is a secretary for a dealer. Although later in the write up it says she has recently been selling them because she “knows the language and statistics” whatever that means. Her pictorial with her posing with her motorcycle is adorable. Enjoy!
